'Coach Wal' played 10 professional years overseas in Spain, Italy, and the Middle East.  Born in Nigeria, he also won Gold with his home Country in AfroBasket 2015.  A 2016 Olympian, Lawal has had much individual and team success across the Atlantic Ocean.  He was an assistant coach under Rod Watts (John Glenn BB) before taking over for the Lady Phoenix.  He has 2 younger sisters, Taiye and Kehinde Bello, currently playing college ball for Minnesota.

From Basketball Operations for Detroit Shock (07&08) to Video Coordinator at Oakland ('08-'10), Coach JP owns a wealth of coaching experience.  Her most cherished time is on the grade school level.  She spent a year as the head coach of the JV team at Oak Park (11-12).  Her Crescent Academy Middle School team went undefeated 2015-2016. She was named Charter School Conference Coach of the Year this past season as the head coach of Old Redford Academy. Puryear has also been an integral part and coach of the fast rising AAU club, Michigan Reign Athletics.

Coach Ross studied Kinesiology at Wayne State University and also played football.  After college, Coach Ross had a few pro opportunities (Detroit Lions, Toronto Argonauts, Montreal Alouettes, etc.).  In 2015, Ross founded High Point Fitness to bring realistic training opportunities to his athletes.  His knowledge, experience, education, and creativity is a priceless asset to the physical growth of the Lady Phoenix program.

Coach Juanita will enter her first year serving as the Head JV Coach and Assistant Varsity Coach during the 2019-20 academic year.  The Saginaw native spent her final two years with the Wayne State Warriors. Cochran helped WSU reach the NCAA Midwest Regional final (Sweet Sixteen), garnering the first wins in program history in the NCAA tournament. Cochran began her coaching career at Cass Technical High School as Assistant Varsity Coach, while also assisting as a coach with the Nike sponsored Michigan Crossover GEYBL Program. She spent the last two years as Graduate Assistant Coach for Wayne State University, where she completed her Master's in Sports Administration. 
A 2009 graduate of Arthur Hill High School in Saginaw, was a three-time selection to the All-Saginaw Valley and Saginaw News All-Area teams (second team as a junior and first-team as a senior) and led the Lumberjacks to a 19-1 record as a senior.  She served as a team captain for two years in basketball and also lettered in track and volleyball.
