Playing for Michigan’s Crossover EYBL AAU team. -Taylor Anderson
My name is Taylor Anderson and I recently turned 15 years old on September 9th. I am in the 10th grade and I absolutely love basketball. Last year, I was the only freshman on the varsity team. I came to a new school district with new teammates and coaches and I proved myself worthy. I put my best foot forward, both on and off the court. I finished my ninth grade year with an overall GPA of a 4.0. It wasn’t easy, but I welcome challenges as I like to fight hard. During this year’s AAU season, I joined Michigan Crossover. It was a new team for me, but I loved the strenuous workouts and the tough competition. During the first session, I played on the 15 & under team. With 15U, I excelled as a starter and caught the attention of college coaches. However, during the second session, I was moved up to the 16 & under team. At first, it was a tough transition for me considering the fact that the girls on the team already established chemistry amongst each other. My confidence was a bit shattered. I wasn’t starting anymore or getting the playing time I was used to getting. I wasn’t scoring or getting steals as I was on the 15&under team. It was tough but just like all other obstacles in life, I overcame it. I cheered for my teammates whether I was on the court or sitting on the bench. I pushed myself even harder to compete with older competition. I ended the season knowing what I needed to work on. The second season humbled and taught me how to examine myself, giving clarity on my weaknesses. I am working harder than ever now! I am working on my shot, ball handling, and defense almost daily. I am more prepared for this upcoming school year and basketball season.
